Tetris (Russian: Те́трис) is a Russian tile-matching puzzle video game, originally designed and programmed by Alexey Pajitnov. He derived its name from the Greek numerical prefix tetra- (all of the game's pieces contain four segments) and tennis, Pajitnov's favorite sport.
